Research parks, scientific or technology parks?
As for the overall attempts to give a detailed classification of research parks, there come mainly from their names. Research parks are in the U.S and in the UK - scientific (in Russia - technology). So is there a difference?
For example, some believe that science parks are surrounded by beautiful landscape, are connected with the university, and are equally suited to accommodate both new and relatively mature high-technology firms, research parks - in almost all the science parks are similar. Research parks are large areas in which high-tech firms are concentrated, and where links with universities in technology transfer often weak and fragile.
Others see the difference between scientific and technological parks in that the first "more closely connected with the research institutes and universities, while the latter require the integration of efforts of public research institutes, research departments of large corporations, small and medium-sized enterprises and new innovative firms in
Alicante. But the focus still is firm, as technology parks are not only in order to promote the development of science and technology.
All these points of view, of course, have the right to exist, but the main thing in this situation is competent and proper division. Here we can distinguish 4 groups of organizations:
1. Business Incubators
2. Scientific, research, technology parks - Research parks.
3. Business parks, industrial parks
4. Technopolis
